TB-303 ABL2 & Phoscyon ANALYSIS

Post by mojses » Thu Apr 08, 2010 8:17 pm

Did some analysis of the original loop taken from ABL site Audio Detection examples
group1_pattern_3a.wav I was trying to find the character the original produces here`s what I have
1st -- group1_pattern_3a.wav TB-303
2nd-- ABL2 v2.1.2
3rd --PHOSCYON 1.8

ABL2 & Phoscyon are playing the same notes accent & slide (SAW wavefrom)

Notice how the original TB-303 behaves with the accent & slide were the magic happens, the unit uniqueness.

Peace

Hi,

just did the same comparison. Here is my result:

The only thing i can say is that Phoscyon has longer accent decay (should be a little bit shorter) and a little bit to short maximum decay. Anyway every TB has different decay time :)
The decay envelope has great importance with the accents and how loud they are - especially when they are triggered after slide.

Kind regards,
Jacek

Hey guys,

I think this a great way to get closer to the TB feeling.
So what about if we would ask for more TB recording with the same pattern ?
Maybe you can share that pattern or the step needed to reproduce and D16 can collect more TBs.
I bet they are all different from each other , but then if one can find out what makes em different , this could be a slider on the plugin.
Personally I think its more a filter thing, than an osci thing...lets find out
