Velocity of Kick / Medium & Hard
Hi,
Just wondering, is the velocity values used on the internal sequencer for medium and hard kicks?
Cheers,
G

Re: Velocity of Kick / Medium & Hard
Hi,
Externally controlled Drumazon has "continuously" controlled velocity (via velocity attribute in a midi note) from 0-127. Internally stored sequence has arbitrarily set certain levels for velocity for accented, non-accented and globally accented notes. But basically external and internal modes control the very same sound engine.
Best regards,
Sebastian

Re: Velocity of Kick / Medium & Hard
Hi Sebastian,
Thanks for the reply, that wasn't exactly what I was asking. What I mean is, lets say you are using Drumazon in internal sequencer mode. If you have a kick pattern of say:-
Soft Kick - Soft Kick - Soft Kick - Hard Kick
If I was to then use the my own sequencer's MIDI what values would the kicks actually be?
Is Hard Kick 128? And soft kick 80? Or what is it exactly?
Does that make sense?
Cheers,
G

Re: Velocity of Kick / Medium & Hard
Hi,
normal step velocity = 48
accented step velocity = 96
accented + full total accent step velocity = 127
These midi velocity values corresponds to values triggered by internal step SEQ.

Jacek

Do those rules hold for Nepheton too?Jacek@d16 wrote:Hi,

Does accented + full total accent step velocity match the amplitude ratio of the real 808

Re: Velocity of Kick / Medium & Hard
Yesterday I was struggling a little with this, these values will help, sure, but... could be possible in next update add an option so if velocity is between 0 and 63 normal step velocity, 64 and 127 accented step velocity, and accent could be triggered with a midi note, so you could program the 909 as you would do with a real one in your host native editor?Jacek@d16 wrote:normal step velocity = 48

Re: Velocity of Kick / Medium & Hard
Hi,
In external mode (when midi notes come in to the midi port) real 909 responds continuously with few values that are some kind of control points, that cover the velocity value for internal sequencer's step values: normal step, accented step and totally accented step. In external mode of Drumazon we wanted to project this behavior exactly.
Best regards,
Sebastian
