Hi,

Yes. Still working on them.

The AU versions won't be ready at once (3 instruments), first in a row Nepheton is comming, the second one will be Drumazon and as the last; Phoscyon will appear.

Best regards,
Sebastian

About 2 years ;) Seriously though it is just a plugin format native on Mac OS and the only one that Logic uses (without jumping though hoops that don't really work)

Just 2 diffrent 'Schnittstellen' interfaces on WIN or Mac OS systems.

That's what I heared:
When Apple bought Logic from eMagic they refused to pay license fees to Steinberg to feature VSTi interface in Logic. (later than version 5.5).
The AU interface is sort of the same as VSTi but only used for Logic plugs.
Other interfaces are e.g. RATAS or DirectX.

VSTi can be used on Mac in diffrent programms as KORE or Live, but not inside Logic. Heared of some way to make Logic compatible to VSTi but should not work stable.

I do not know anything about the difference in programming of the two interfaces.

Hope this helped a litte.

Hi,

Developers always try to make both versions look the same. But interior of AU and VSTi is completely different. The purpose of both technologies is the same. I assume Apple did so to assure themselves full compatibility with their host (Logic), to avoid the problems of writing properly working VST host - there's no specification at all - only now when VST3 has been revealed, it contains, apart from plug-in specification also host's specification. Additionally AU and VST differ eachother with few features. EG. AU has multiple audio input (which makes side chaining easily to do), VST has midi out (AU has it only since Leopard 10.5).

Best regards,
Sebastian

motu's digital performer uses AU as well, btw, and any mac host worth owning will host AUs as well as VSTs (live, bidule, etc.).

VST only hosts on mac are not very common. There's steinberg (who developed the VST standard) and traktion...

Hi,

Once again sorry for delay, Nepheton is still under development, since we've started with VST and knew nothing about existence of AU, so source code was written in very monolithic way. We had to switch to new programming framework, which allows us to make more transparent code (considering technology; AU, VST, RTAS). We needed to replace almost 70% of code. Nepheton will appear first and shorlty after it Drumazon - because internal structure of instrument is very similar - I mean sequencer and preset management. Phoscyon will be the last one and it requires to be changed a lot (about 90% of source code).

Best regards,
Sebastian

You'll need to be more patient, I'm afraid.. Nepheton AU is well under way but I have no idea how long the devcycle on that will last. But do not abandon hope!

Hi,

Frist Nepheton beta is already released for our Customers only, and next beta will be released this week. It'll include fixed chunk saving with Logic (internal patterns saving).

Best regards,

I have to say that these drum machines are awesome! I have been using the demos in Live while I wait for the AU versions and I am really excited to get them. I am trying to be patient and I am thrilled that they are coming to AU. Thanks so much!!
