Hi why PHOSCYON 1.5.6 for Mac is only in VST format ?
Remember that the LOGIC 7.2.3 work only with Audio Unit.
I have also a New MacPRO that work only in Universal Binary

Phoscyon is actually for Mac only in VST format as Universal Binary. UB means only that it runs on Intels and PPC macs. No matter if it is AU universal binary or VST universal binary.
So Phoscyon of course will work on MacPro but only under hosts which work with VST plugins.

Why Phoscyon is not available yet as an AU ?
It's because making it AU is not so simple as converting from PC VST to Mac VST. We can just tell that we want make all our plugins AU compatible but we need time...

I have question too: why Logic still doesn't support VST ? :(
It would be much, much easier...

Cheers,
Przemek

It used to, but it was supposedly more effort than it was worth. Steinberg is willing to tell people how to write VSTi plugins, but they want the only VSTi hosts to be their own programs, Cubase and Nuendo, so at least in the past they've released enough information to write a VSTi, but not to add support for it in a sequencer; the developers have to figure that part out themselves, if they want it, and Emagic was fed up with it.

So, when Apple bought Emagic and developed Core Audio, Emagic switched to only supporting the protocol that they would never have any trouble getting documentation for.

Supposedly.

did you try fxpansions vst to au wrapper?
this should make it possible to work in logic with phosycon

It's been tried and it doesn't work. The GUI (and possibly other stuff) is unresponsive.

its all about platform wars...Apple wants to own the mac with AU like microsoft did with DXi...in short, its a phenomenally dumb idea, and in time..eventually people will realise we are all better off with one single format plugin..eventually apple will have to open up again to VST...its insane they dont..especially if they want to sell more macs!
