Problems with custom random pitches

Post by valvestat » Fri Sep 28, 2007 4:12 pm

Hi there,

I'm having problems using the random function. I can't seem to get the Phoscyon to generate a pattern based on the selected notes.

When I move the dial to 'maj' or any of the other chords and hit random I do hear the chord reflected in the resultant random pattern. But if i set the dial to 'Cust' and, say only select the first C on the keyboard, the randomizer still draws notes from the full range of notes. Even if I copy a major patter as shown when selecting 'maj' the patter still sounds entirely random.

This is what I'm doing. Loading up Phoscyon, selecting 'int seq.' - setting chord dial to 'Cust' - pressing the 'rand mode' button and then selecting the notes I want to be used to generate a random pattern on the 1 octave keybaord.

Am I doing something wrong?

Cheers,
James

Hi,

Defaultly the dial is used for arpeggiator. If You want to use it to randomise notes, You're supposed to turn the randomiser on (in bottom right corner - press the RAND. MODE button). It works only in INT. SEQ mode turned on.

LEDs on the keyboard will start flash.

Now the ARP. CHORD dial will be fulfiling the function of choosing the set of notes to randomise. Of course it's only initial configuration. You're able to change it (by pressing Phoscyon's keyboard keys). If You choose on the dial the value "CUST". All notes will be chosen. So You'll be supposed to turn off some of them to get the result You want. Phoscyon GUI's keyboard range is only one octave long. "Transpose" keys are used for choosing the octave. You have to set the notes on other octaves as well. In "CUST" mode they're turned on defaultly.

If You're ready to pick some random arrangement of notes You've chosen, just press NEXT RAND. FLATTEN button (in the right bottom corner). The EVENT THRESHOLD knobs decide about intesity of GATE, ACCENT and SLIDE on the steps.

To make another randomisation, press once again NEXT RAND. FLATTEN button.

To accept, press RAND NOTES button. The random mode will turn off.

Best regards,
Sebastian

Thanks Sebastian,

I was forgetting about the other octaves!

Thanks again,
