Mapping Nepheton to Beatstep Pro

Post by deminimus » Tue May 09, 2017 4:18 pm

Hey guys,

I was having trouble editing my drum map in Nepheton to match the pads on my Beatstep Pro in Drum Mode.

First I saved the default drum map for Nepheton onto my desktop. Then I looked at what midi notes my Beatstep pro drumpads sent which was the following

Upper pads: 44 - 45 - 46 - 47 - 48 - 49 - 50 - 51

Bottom pads: 36 - 37 - 38 - 39 - 40 - 41 - 42 - 43

Then I edited the Nepheton drum map that I had saved to the following:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<DrumMap application="Nepheton" ver="1.1" name="General Midi">
<assign midiKey="36” instrument="BD"/>
<assign midiKey="36" instrument="BD"/>
<assign midiKey="37” instrument="SD"/>
<assign midiKey="37” instrument="SD"/>
<assign midiKey=“38” instrument="LC"/>
<assign midiKey=“38” instrument="LC"/>
<assign midiKey=“39” instrument="MC"/>
<assign midiKey=“40” instrument="HC"/>
<assign midiKey=“40” instrument="HC"/>
<assign midiKey="41" instrument="LT"/>
<assign midiKey="41” instrument="LT"/>
<assign midiKey="42” instrument="MT"/>
<assign midiKey="42” instrument="MT"/>
<assign midiKey="43" instrument="HT"/>
<assign midiKey=“43” instrument="HT"/>
<assign midiKey=“44” instrument="CL"/>
<assign midiKey=“45” instrument="RS"/>
<assign midiKey=“46” instrument="MA"/>
<assign midiKey=“47” instrument="CP"/>
<assign midiKey=“70” instrument="CB"/>
<assign midiKey=“48” instrument="LG"/>
<assign midiKey="49" instrument="CY"/>
<assign midiKey=“49” instrument="CY"/>
<assign midiKey=“49” instrument="CY"/>
<assign midiKey=“49” instrument="CY"/>
<assign midiKey=“50” instrument="OH"/>
<assign midiKey=“51” instrument="CH"/>
<assign midiKey=“51” instrument="CH"/>
</DrumMap>

I purposely set the cowbell high because I'd rather have the laser gun than the cowbell and one had to go.

I then saved this drum map onto my desktop. Then went back to the Nepheton plug in and I loaded the custom drum map as well as set it to my default. However when I go to play, it still plays the old default drum map. Any suggestions???? I’m hoping I missed something that’s an easy fix. Thank you.

Another question is what if my Beatstep Pro sends Midi notes and not CC's (which perhaps it does) because it works perfectly with a drum rack in ableton.

For example what if sends the following:

Upper pads: G#1 - A1 - A#1 - B1 - C2 - C#2 - D2 - D#2

Bottom pads: C1 - C#1 - D1 - D#1 - F#0 - F1 - F#1 - G1

How would I map it?

Thanks again.
