BD step 1 is louder than other steps...
BD step 1 is louder than other steps...
hi im new here
and so i have a question about the nepheton demo ...
i tried it using cubase 5.5.2 as a host and noticed that there´s a little more punch on the first step while using the bassdrum...
it´s slightly louder on step 1...is this a bug or a restriction from the demo of the nepheton 1.4.5?
best regards

The Accent may be active for step 1 only.
There are two levels of of volume for each Nepheton step, and you may have selected the louder one for step 1.

Re: BD step 1 is louder than other steps...
no...with accent on all or without accent there is a little more peak...you can hear it and you can see it in a scope or even in cubase´s peak level...it´s definitly not an accent nor is it a secondary volume level ...start with a clean pattern, just bassdrum....maybe u can hear it
it´s not that louder it would be with an accent...
i uploaded a mp3 http://www.file-upload.net/download-319 ... d.mp3.html
only bassdrum programmed with the second level, no accent ...you can even see it in the waveform that there is a peak each first beat.

Re: BD step 1 is louder than other steps...
noone any ideas?...in the first place i thought it could be a demo restriction...but makes no sense to me since its only the bassdrum...
sounds a bit like if a trigger signal is bleeding through...has anyone noticed this before?...maybe i´ll wait purchasing ´till next update...

I've noticed this as well. I thought i was going nuts, but i guess not =o] Doesn't bother me much at all, but i can notice it once in a while.

I don't notice this, won't be it a placebo? In nepheton each drum sound has a random volume withing a range, in order to emulate real 808. This and the natural signature perception could trick your senses. Try this experiment: start playing nepheton with a simple 4/4 BD, minimize your host and turn off your monitors/headphones. Then go to the kitchen and get something to eat, or do anything, go back and turn on your monitors/headphones (but don't restore your host screen) and try to ear the first or louder bd. Restore your host window to confirm. You will see that's random and there is a random chance of 25% to find it.

No, it isn't random. Not if 2 people so far hear it the same way.

hi there...back again...and no it´s definitly not random...i have a real 808 aswell...it doesn´t behave like this...if you record it, you will see each first bassdrum-hit-> the overall volume (especially the transient) is slightly louder than all others...you could also see it in the peakmeter. i will post a pic later...
and thanx "computer controlled" for testing this...

Uhm, forgive me, yes I see the bug. It happens only in host mode. In Ext mode everything is ok.
Two pictures. The first one is Nepheton in ext mode (disabled in the demo), the levels are ok:

Hi,
I cannot confirm the issue with repeating louder step. There's a waveform i got when i exported
all steps bd pattern (host mode):
Cheers,
Sebastian

I just emailed you a project and a step-to-step guide to replicate the bug
