Re: Version 2 Nepheton/Nithonat/Drumazon

Would it be possible to implement this? https://youtu.be/chFz-0StDCE?t=3m33s There are Rate and Depth controls on this 808 cowbell clone module, not necessarily Pitch. Do you think the depth does something with the clipper? Hear how the beats change between the two oscillators? Every 808 had a sligh...

Re: Version 2 Nepheton/Nithonat/Drumazon

Thanks Sebastian. I do agree on Nithonat's hi-hats, they're awesome, but Nepheton has some quirks in the sound I would consider atypical to actual 808s or to the comparison 808 in the sound examples even. These are very minor details that most people wouldn't catch so the consensus would still indic...

Re: Version 2 Nepheton/Nithonat/Drumazon

Nepheton is very fun but definitely needs an audio upgrade. The hi-hats sound scratchy at default settings and must be tweaked to get that metallic sheen. Why have a decay setting for the cowbell if the decay isn't going to be as long as the default cowbell decay of many 808s at max? The mid setting...

Open that guy's comparison samples in a wave editor and you'll notice that the Neph waveforms look upside down. The attacks go negative first, unlike most 808's this makes the sound pluck instead of pound. The only sound that I've confirmed as being in phase is the clave. I also agree that the BD is...

Hate to spill the beans, but Nepheton has the trigger. It's an Easter egg but not too hard to find. You dont have to chose between CB and trigger as original, but it does follow the cowbell pattern on an extra channel once released. Not going to spoil how to turn it on. :P LG is probably a more musi...

No. That's the way the original acted. The BD sound was not a discrete sine wave, but the product of an impulse fed through a self-oscillating filter. Rapid impulses would excite this lowpass filter cumulatively. Sounds like polyphony but is not. For the effect you are talking about, sample the kick...

Exactly. They look perfect. Except they decay into vectored 24-bit nothingness instead of a sea of noise. A modded, glossy 808 with the gauze removed.

Nepheton a 'mirror image' of its inspiration.

I appreciate the chance to test out such a fully featured demo of a great VSTi . It sounds like a crystal clear 808 with extended parameters. I would say that it is near perfect, but I have studied the machine for decades and I've got some nits to pick. I am speaking of the demo version because I ha...
