SH-7? That's a very rare synth, so hardly anyone can call any emulation of it authentic, because it's very unlikely you'll ever use a real one. SH-101, there are no emulations of it that come anywhere close. Even the much touted Strobe from FXpansion, which was largely based on it, sounds nothing li...
Sebastian: as far as I know (from what Mike Janney told me), there are later 606's with a completely changed cymbal circuit. The earlier machines' cymbals have a "grittier" sound, and the newer revision's cymbals (like what Pac posted, thanks) have a more "solid" sound. Personally I really prefer th...

I don't know what you mean by "better than the sampled synth", there is obvious, audible aliasing by Devastor, a visual analysis is not needed to know that. The second sample just demonstrates the aliasing more drastically. You can produce very audible aliasing with Devastor yourself very easily wit...

I think it's a very good idea. Makes a lot of sense. Using a computer keyboard to copy, paste and delete files, open a new web browser tab, etc. is useful and makes sense. Using controller/synth knobs for live parameter tweaking instead of dragging a mouse cursor on a computer screen is easier, quic...

Just in case anyone didn't fully understand the severeness of the issue, here is another example, Devastor on left channel. My Nord Rack (used for this demo with extreme filter resonance for clearness) and SH-101 absolutely hate digital distortion effects as you can hear. All because of damned alias...

Better antialiasing wanted
Devastor does have good antialiasing, but not good enough. Like all other software disortion effects, it sometimes ruins sounds that have sharp transients. A good example is synth sounds such as saw wave with some filter resonance. I've made a little example to demonstrate the artifact. The left cha...

Well it's not nearly as complex as a Sherman Filterbank. Also, Filterbank also happens to be an analog device, so the combination of complexity + analog components + knobs, materials, etc, results in lots of $ to produce, ship, and hence buy. Devastor has excellent, unique sound and allows very broa...

This virtual preamp of yours is really crazy :). I'm really glad I can get this kind of sound with software, you have no idea how much I love such distortion.. I hope you'll keep improving the sound, adding even more realism to its character. High gain settings especially show how high quality your ...
