I don't think the problem is that d16 have a limit (the previous version has 36 mono out's/ 18 stereo) but certain host's have a problem providing that number of out's. so they opted to limit it so it would work with the host's that are causing the problems.
I'm just speculating though.

okay fair enough. How about providing a two separate builds, one with 12 out's, the other with 17. I suppose it isn't that much of a problem because I can still use the previous version. reducing the number of audio outputs to 12 seems like a step backward. you have 17 different sounds but now I can only use 12 at a time if I want individual control over them. even if I assign the conga's to the same output and the toms to the same output, there still isn't enough outs for the rest....
