Hmm.. what do you mean? I can get a comparable sound from my Nepheton... with a little processing.

If you really want to reach for a "purist faithful emu sound" with using plugins, you need to invest time+money into quality processors.. usually adding a touch of eq + dynamics treatment + nonlinearity will do the trick. Mostly all plug emus sound "close but no cigar" on their own.. D16 boxes are no exception in this regard IMO.

Its more related to the distortion factor from overdrive when Master volume and instruments are maxed. Its not so much apparent on 808 as on 606 with only 1 mono output combining all sounds.

don't d16 claim to model the gain stages of the 606? Nitonhat raw doesn't sound like 606 line out. The modeled harmonics and distortion are just not accurate to the 606. Nepheton and Drumazon sound right, Nithonat doesn't.

Mobile Rhythm mR-606 sounds much closer to real 606 tone.

Samples explain why it captured the tone so well. The Tromine is synthesized like Nithonat and still sounds closer to a hardware 606.
