Devastor / Cubase 5 - Control changes take mouse control
Devastor / Cubase 5 - Control changes take mouse control
Hi guys
I'm having a real problem with Devastor (I did buy it)... under Cubase 5. By the way - Devastor is one of my most important plugins.
The problem is when I have a larger project with a few instances of Devastor that when I click on any control, the mouse wont release.. so my cursor can move all of the screen, but it it is locked to adjusting the control that I last clicked (to turn for instance).
The only way to resolve this is to click out of cubase to desktop, and return to cubase - wait for the devastor to appear as the focused VST and then very very quickly click right / left / right left over and over until the control in Devastor releases.. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Any ideas? Is there going to be another release that will fix this issue?
Many thanks
Nick

Re: Devastor / Cubase 5 - Control changes take mouse control
Hi,
First of all we'd need to know more about environment you're working on.
- What's the operating system (MacOS or Windows XP, Vista, 7) + version?
- 64bit or 32bit Cubase?
- What exactly version of Cubase 5 (5.0.1, 5.1.0, 5.5.0, 5.5.1)?
Is this issue connected with CPU usage somehow? or you need just to put few instances of Devastor into the empty project to make it happen?
Thank you,
Best regards,
Sebastian

Hi again
Windows 7 64bit (genuine)
Cubase Studio 5.5.1 32bit (genuine)
Virus TI
The PC is dedicated to production, so has very little other junk installed on it.
I've been able to reproduce the problem with a project using 2 lanes of audio, and 3 devastors (one on each lane, and one on the master buss).
I don't think it's got anything to do with CPU as my CPU is near idle on most of these projects.

Hi,
I'm checking it. In the mean time could you tell me if this problem also appeared to other plug-ins you use or only to Devastor?
Do you use wireless mouse?
Best regards,
Sebastian

Hi mate
No, never has this occurred before with other plugins. Also, I use a Microsoft Basic Optical Mouse 2.0 (wired). I have no other problems with any of my VST, or VSTIs.
Perhaps I could take a short video of the problem and upload it somewhere for you?
Regards
Nick

Hi,
Thank you,
If you could send video that would be great. If it's not too large you may send it at sebastian[at]d16[dot]pl

Ok I've uploaded a short video of it to :
http://www.additivemusic.com/d16/d16problem.avi (right click / save as)
You can see where I'm moving the mouse, but you can't tell when i click my mouse. I only clicked for about 1 second, then I let go, and it keeps the knob turning after I release as I move my mouse around. I had to click about 20 times around the control to get it to finally release. Sometimes I simply can't release it.. It happens on all knobs, and buttons.
My mouse button is working fine - I've tested this a number of times.
If there is any other test you can suggest that will help you suss it out, let me know
Also, please let me know once you've downloaded the video, so that I can delete it.
Many thanks!
